Hearty Bean Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Soup:

  • 1/2 cup dried kidney beans
  • 1/2 cup dried black beans
  • 1/2 cup dried pinto beans
  • 1/2 cup dried white or navy beans

Spice Mix:

  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons powdered beef bouillon (or chicken, if preferred)
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beans:

    • In a large bowl, combine the dried kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, and white or navy beans. Mix well.
    • Rinse the beans thoroughly under cold water to remove any debris.
  2. Cook the Beans:

    • Transfer the beans to a large crock pot or slow cooker.
    • Add 8 cups of water or broth to the crock pot.
    • Stir in the garlic salt, powdered bouillon, onion powder, red pepper flakes, chili powder, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Slow Cook the Soup:

    • Set the crock pot to low and cook for 8-10 hours, or set to high and cook for 4-5 hours, until the beans are tender and the flavors are well combined.
  4. Serve:

    • Once cooked, stir the soup well and adjust seasoning to taste if necessary.
    • Serve hot, accompanied by Cast Iron Skillet Bread or Rustic No Yeast Bread for a hearty and comforting meal.
